Saint Shepherd Sommers is a World Noble and a member of the Knights of God.

Sommers has a twisted, sadistic personality and cares little for the feelings of those beneath him. He has an abstract belief of the concept of "Love", stating that loving is about "hurting one another", and uses this viewpoint to fuel his interest in pain and agony, thinking that the tragedy of, for example, a parent dying for their child is an exciting, beautiful prospect, casually and nonchalantly admitting so in front of his fellow Knights of God. Upon actually witnessing such a tragedy, Sommers became so excited that he could barely control himself, laughing to the point of crying. Cruel and opportunistic, Sommers is not above threatening the lives of children to accomplish a mission, knowing that their parents would not hesitate to do anything to save them. This brutal treatment of children is a recurring trait of Sommers, who has been shown to enjoy mocking defenseless kids that he fully intended to kill. Befitting his lack of empathy towards the common people, he was excited at the prospect of taking Shakuyaku, who many considered to be the most beautiful in the world, as a slave, but quickly attacked and attempted to kill her when chaos struck God Valley, stating a woman of worth disgusts him and that he preferred naive women, and decades later, he attempted to kill Nico Robin as if she were any other person, not even showing any interest towards enslaving her. He apparently is excited by emotionally breaking his opponents, as he tried to kill Shakuyaku just to see the pirates' reaction should they find her slaughtered brutally, and in the present day, was delighted at holding the giants of Elbaph hostage using their children. He apparently likes to drag out his opponent's suffering, as he suggested he could get rid of Shakuyaku's optimism if he just smashed her in five blows, seemingly taking pleasure in his victims losing any faith or hope. Sommers is fully committed to the goals of the World Government and will do whatever is necessary to achieve success, regardless of how amoral he comes off. He also believes that academic pursuits and historical retention to be completely worthless for warriors, especially those he wishes to have under the government.
